"Drive Your Porsche Day" Drive to Mt. Diablo

Meet: 9 am

Meetup Location: House of Ed Morris (directions to be provided after registration)

This is one of several DYPD drives in Northern California sponsored by 356CAR. This drive will officially start at the home of Ed Morris in Walnut Creek at 9 am with coffee and donuts followed by a visit to Ed’s growing memorabilia collection. We encourage drivers to caravan to Ed’s house (see note below). Following coffee, we will drive to the top of Mount Diablo where we will have a picnic lunch as a group. Please gas up your car before arriving at ED’s house and also bring your picnic lunch with you. If you can, bring extra to share at the Mt Diablo picnic.

Please register by sending an email to ED Morris. If you want help finding a group to caravan to Ed’s house let him know in your email. Ed will respond to your email with his address and any information about caravaning to his house.

Note- there is a $10 dollar fee ($9 for seniors) to enter the Mt. Diablo State Park.

“Drive Your Porsche Day” Drive to Finnon Lake

DY356 Day is about driving, sharing, and celebrating the iconic 356. Participants take their cars out for scenic drives, group tours, and photo opportunities. Dan Richards and Terry Taylor designed a drive for the Sacramento region to enjoy on DY356 Day. This will be a Foothills Drive to Finnon Lake for lunch.

Meeting Time: 9:30 am

Meeting Place: El Dorado Hills Town Center in the Starbucks parking lot. This shopping center is on the corner of Latrobe Road and White Rock Road in El Dorado Hills

Terry Taylor will be leading the driving tour. This destination is a secluded lake above Placerville known for its beauty and camping opportunities. This is a 1.5 hour drive on Salmon Falls road, highway 193 and Rock Creek Road to the lake which and will be followed by lunch at “Smoke on the Water” restaurant. The lakeside restaurant offers a limited but delicious menu including juicy burgers, pulled pork, and crispy fries. You might even want to try their “Dirty Fries!” The renovated space is clean with indoor and outdoor seating, providing and provides a great view of the lake while you dine. You are also welcome to bring a picnic lunch.

This will be a leisurely drive through the mountains while you follow the car in front of you; but turn-by-turn directions will be handed out during the pre-drive meeting. After lunch, you can return home from the area at your own pace (there are a number of options). You can email Dan Richards
